About the CCIE Certification Exam
- To obtain a CCIE certification, you must pass both the written and lab exams on the desired CCIE certification track.
- The CCIE Written Exam has a duration of 120 minutes, while the Lab Exam lasts for 8 hours.
- Candidates with a valid CCNP core exam can qualify for the CCIE lab exam without taking the CCIE written exam as per the latest Cisco guidelines.
- Candidates have to take the CCIE Lab exam before their qualifying exam’s validity expires.
- CCIE exams are conducted at select Cisco locations across the globe. Cisco also sets up various mobile lab locations occasionally for increased availability of exam slots.
- After passing the CCIE written exam, you should take the CCIE Lab Exam (Initial Attempt) within 18 months.
- There is a $1900 exam fee for the Permanent Lab and a $1600 exam fee for the Mobile Lab (BYOD or Bring Your Device).
- To maintain the validity of the CCIE written exam, candidates must reattempt the CCIE lab exam within 12 months of their last scored attempt (failed).
- Candidates must ace the CCIE Lab Exam within 3 years of passing the qualifying exam.
- All Cisco certifications are valid for 3 years.
